About Drew Heilman

Drew Heilman is originally from York Pennsylvania and is currently a 5th year Architectural Engineering Student at Penn State University with a focus on Construction Management.  Drew is expected to graduate in May of 2010 with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering from Penn State.  Drew is also currently a Placement Officer for the Student Chapter for the Partnership for Achieving Construction Excellence.  His position involves interacting with industry members and helping them set up campus activities, information sessions and interview locations. 

Drew Heilman has worked for two different companies in the Washington DC area as an intern during his college career.  During Drew’s summer after his junior year of college he worked for Hess Construction and Engineering Services in Gaithersburg, MD.  As an intern for Hess he worked on Oakdale High School in Fredrick, MD, which was a $65 million project, locate on a 49-acre site.  While on this project he managed a small labor crew, reviewed and posted RFI’s, assembled O&M and warranty information and updated the meeting minutes.  During Drew’s summer after his senior year of college he worked for James G. Davis Construction in Rockville, MD.  The project that Drew interned on for the summer with DAVIS was the Constitution Center on 7th and D St. in Washington DC.  This project was a $250 million 2.1 million square feet base building renovation.  As an intern Drew posted RFI’s, conducted weekly Sub-Progress meetings and documented the meeting minutes, compiled weekly meeting agendas, assisted with surveying and layout tasks and obtained warranty information from subcontractors.

The Capstone Project Electronic Portfolio (CPEP) is a web‐based project and information center. It contains material produced for a year‐long Senior Thesis class. Its purpose, in addition to providing central storage of individual assignments, is to foster communication and collaboration between student, faculty consultant, course instructors, and industry consultants. This website is dedicated to the research and analysis conducted via guidelines provided by the Department of Architectural Engineering.
